A custom Adirondack chair cover is a waterproof cover cut to the exact shape of your own chair. The pattern follows the wide flat arms, the raked back and the sloping seat. Adirondack chair covers are made one at a time, from the measurements you send. There is no small, medium or large to pick between.
Adirondack chairs are not one shape. Wide flat arms, a tall fanned back, a seat that drops toward the ground. Every maker builds them a little differently, so a cover that fits one will not fit the next.
Cedar, teak, pine, painted timber or poly-lumber, these chairs live outdoors all year, on decks, porches, lawns and lakeside docks. If you need covers for a whole outdoor set instead, see our made to measure outdoor furniture covers.
Because the chair is widest in its middle. The arms are the widest part of an Adirondack, about halfway up. Almost everything else outdoors is widest at the base.
So universal covers are cut narrow at the top and wide at the bottom. That is upside down for this chair. The cover fouls on the arms going on, then rides up and leaves the legs bare.
Then there is the size spread. Polywood puts its own Adirondack range at 34 to 44 inches tall, 24 to 33 inches wide and 24 to 38 inches deep. That is a ten-inch spread in every direction, across chairs all sold under the same name. Universal covers come in about two sizes.
Our free design service checks your measurements before anything is cut.
An Adirondack seat slopes down toward the back. Rain runs to the bottom of that slope and sits there. A cover shaped to your chair sheds it instead.
Water standing in the joints turns to ice and works them apart over a winter. Keep the water out and a freeze has nothing left to lift.
Rain does not fall straight down in the open. Wind pushes it sideways, into the slat gaps and under the arms, where it sits and soaks in.
Bare timber silvers in UV and the grain lifts. NylonSafe®, our medium-weight 420D fabric, covers home and light commercial use; PVCArmour®, the heavy 1000D, high-exposure and commercial sites.
A slatted seat holds water in every gap. Airflow vents are built into each cover, so moisture escapes instead of sitting against the wood.
Wet leaves pack into the slat gaps and stain the timber long after they are cleared. The drawstring pulls the hem in around the base to keep them out.

The chair on its own. The cover has to be widest across the arms and taper both ways — up over the fanned back, down to the legs. Get that wrong and it either will not pass the arms or it rides up and leaves the base open. Arm span, overall height and depth front to back are what the pattern is cut from.
The chair with its matching ottoman standing in front. A chair-and-ottoman cover is the harder one to make, and the one universal covers get most wrong. A chair and an ottoman are two separate objects with open air between them, so a rectangular cover thrown over both tents across the gap. That tented span is the lowest unsupported point of the whole set, which is exactly where rain collects with nothing underneath to hold it up.
What a season outdoors does to a chair nobody covered.
Not off-the-shelf sizes. Your own measurements become the pattern — arm span, height and depth, all of it.
Both are 100% waterproof. NylonSafe® is warranted for 3 years, PVCArmour® for 5 — doubled with the KuvrPlus warranty extension.
A drawstring hem as standard. Add tie-downs and fasteners, elasticated corners or snap buckles for exposed spots.
Stitched and sealed internally so water cannot get through the seam lines, with reinforcement at the high-load points.
Most of all through fall and winter, when the chairs stand unused for months and the weather does its work. Our service is not for everyone, and that's fine.
