What This Is
A custom garden bench cover is a waterproof cover made to the measurements of one bench: yours. With arms, armless, backless or a traditional park bench — part of our wider range of patio furniture and leisure covers. If your bench is not on the configurator, talk to us about a cover for it.
A bench is long and shallow. Four, five or six feet wide and often under two feet deep, so the cover has to fit that ratio rather than a box. That is why we ask which bench you have first, then its width, depth and height.

“In the description, it states the cover has eyelets to secure it. There are no eyelets just rope.”
Why Do Universal Garden Bench Covers Never Fit Right?
A size-band cover is sold by seat count. One maker's two-seater is wider than another's three-seater, so the cover is a foot too long, or the end of the seat is bare.
Too long, and the surplus folds over at one end and traps water in the fold. Too short, and the rain gets under the end and onto the seat.
A back makes it worse. The cover runs from the top of the back to the front of the seat, with nothing holding the fabric up in between. A loose cover sags into that gap and the rain sits in it.
What Does a Garden Bench Cover Protect Against?
Six things damage a garden bench across the year: rain, damp, sun, wind, frost, and birds and sap. The timber and the end frames take all of it, because a bench has no cushions to take it first.
Rain & Standing Water
Rain lands on the seat and sits in the gaps between the slats. On a bench with a back it also runs down the back and collects where the back meets the seat.
Damp, Algae & Mould
A slatted seat never really dries out between showers. The gaps hold the damp for days. Green algae starts in the gaps, then spreads across the shaded end of the seat.
Sun & Silvering
Teak, acacia and oak bleach to silver-grey in the sun and dry out as they do it. Fine cracks open along the grain. The strip under an arm stays the colour the bench used to be.
Wind
A bench sits low and open on legs, so wind gets under it before it gets over it. It lifts a loose cover from below and drives rain up onto the underside of the seat.
Frost & Winter
Wet timber freezes, and the ice opens the grain into a split that runs the length of a slat. Water in the bolt joints of a cast end does the same to the paint, and rust follows.
Birds & Sap
A bench goes where the view is, and that is often under a tree. Droppings dry hard onto bare slats and sap sets in the grain. Both mark timber that has lost its finish.
Which Bench Do You Have?
Which Bench Do You Have?
Bench With Arms
A back, and an arm at each end. The arms stand wider than the seat, so the width is taken across the outside of the arms. Then the depth, the full height, and how high the arms sit.
Armless Bench
A back and no arms, so the seat is the widest point. Measure the seat from end to end, front to back, floor to the top of the back, and floor to the seat.
Backless Bench
A seat on legs and nothing above it. Width, depth and height to the seat is all it needs. The simplest bench to cover well, because there is no gap for water to sit in.
Traditional Park Bench
Timber slats on cast or scrolled end frames, with a back that curves. The ends stand proudest, so measure across their outside faces, then the depth, the height at the top of the curve, and the arm height.
What Happens to an Uncovered Outdoor Bench?
Split slats, rust and green algae do not only happen to a bench left bare. They happen under covers too — ones that sagged, blew off in the night, or held the damp against the timber. A bench is the last thing in the garden anyone covers, and the first thing the frost reaches.

How Is This Bench Cover Different?
01
Made for the Bench You Own
Every bench takes its own measurements — width, depth, overall height, and a seat or arm height where the shape has one. Not a seat count. We draw it, and nothing is cut until you approve the drawing. That is how we make a custom garden bench cover.
02
100% Waterproof — Not Shower-Proof
Timber that stays wet splits, and a cast end that stays wet rusts. NylonSafe® is a premium waterproof fabric for home and light commercial use. PVCArmour® is heavy-duty, for exposed and commercial sites. Both carry HydroLok® sealed seams — stitched and sealed internally so water cannot get through the seam lines.
03
Stays in Position
A bench gives wind one way in: the open space under the seat. Drawn to your bench there is no slack to lift, and the drawstring hem pulls in under the seat rail. Elasticated corners, eyelets and snap buckles are there for a bench in an exposed spot.
04
Built to Stay Out
A bench cover spends more of its life in direct sun than most, so both fabrics are UV-stabilised. Airflow vents move damp out of the timber instead of shutting it in, with EZ handles built in so it pulls off easily. Reinforced load points, waterproof zips and a duffel bag are standard.
When Do You Need a Custom Garden Bench Cover?
A custom cover is not the answer for every bench. These are the two cases. If it is a two-seater with deep cushions, that is a sofa, and we make custom outdoor sofa covers for those.
Focused on Longevity
This cover is right for you if:
Your bench lives outside all year — at the end of the lawn, by the front door or under a tree — and you want it sound in spring
A size-band cover has already hung off the ends, sagged into the seat, or blown off overnight
Your bench has arms, a curved back or cast ends that no box-shaped cover was drawn for
Focused on Immediacy
You don't need this if:
You are content buying another cheap bench cover each spring when the last one gives out
The bench comes into a garage or shed for the winter
You want a cover off the shelf this week and will live with the fit

Cost Over Time
Why Buy Once Beats Buying Three Times
A cheap cover isn't a cheap decision. It's a cheap decision made every two years — until the bench underneath it isn't worth saving.

How do I measure my garden bench for a cover?
Pick your bench first - armless, backless, with arms or traditional park bench - then measure that shape. Each one has its own measuring guide on this page with every measurement lettered on a diagram, and a Download PDF button if you want a copy to take outside. A is the total width, B the total depth and C the total height; a bench with arms adds D, the height to the top of the arm, and an armless bench adds D, the height to the seat. Measure the widest part of each, which on a bench with arms or park-bench ends is usually not the seat.
Is this a 2 seater or a 3 seater bench cover?
Neither - it is a cover for your bench. A two-seater from one maker can be wider than a three-seater from another, so we do not size by seat count. You measure the width, depth and height of the bench you have, and the cover is drawn to those. That is what stops the ends hanging off or coming up short.
Can you cover a backless bench?
Yes - it is one of the four shapes on the configurator. A backless bench is a single low plane, so the cover is a shallow box that drops over the seat and pulls in under it. There is no back for water to run down and no gap above the seat for it to sit in, which makes it the simplest bench to cover well.
Do you make covers for a traditional park bench with a curved back?
Yes. The Traditional Park Bench shape is drawn for exactly that: a back that sweeps in a curve and cast or scrolled end frames that stand wider than the seat. You give us the overall width across the ends, the depth, the height to the top of the back and the height to the top of the arm, and the cover is shaped to follow the curve rather than tenting across it.
Should I leave the seat pad on underneath the cover?
If the pad lives on the bench, leave it on and measure with it on, because it raises the highest point and adds depth the cover has to clear. If you bring it indoors over winter, measure without it. Either way this is a cover for the bench, not a cushion cover - it goes over the pad, not around it.
Is a custom garden bench cover fully waterproof?
Ours is. Both fabrics are 100% waterproof and UV-stabilised — NylonSafe® 420D nylon, or the heavier PVCArmour® 1000D PVC for exposed sites — and both use HydroLok® sealed seams, stitched and sealed internally so water cannot get through the seam lines. Not every cover sold as waterproof is: a fabric advertised as breathable is not 100% waterproof, which is why ours are not breathable and we fit airflow vents instead. Read more about our fabrics →
Will water sit on top of the cover?
On a bench with a back it can, if the cover is loose. The cover runs from the top of the back down to the front of the seat, and the seat sits under that run with nothing holding the fabric up. A cover made to the bench's own height and depth keeps that run taut so water sheds off the front; a loose one sags into the gap and holds it. A backless bench has no run and no gap.
How does the cover stay on a bench in wind?
A bench sits low and open on legs, so wind gets under it before it gets over it. The cover has a drawstring hem that pulls in under the seat rail so there is no loose skirt for the wind to get hold of, and tie-down points at the ends for a bench in an exposed spot. See the tie-down options →
My bench isn't one of the four shapes listed. Can you still make a cover?
Yes. Any shape, any size — the four on the configurator are the common ones, not the limit. Lutyens benches, curved tree seats and companion seats with a table between all get drawn to their own measurements. Send photos and measurements through the free design service and we will draw it. If you would rather talk it through first, get in touch.
How long does a custom garden bench cover take to arrive?
Current lead time is 2–3 weeks from design approval to delivery. Nothing is held in stock — the cover is drawn to the measurements you send for your bench. You get that drawing back to approve before anything is cut, so production starts once you are happy with it. Timescales are estimates and vary with how busy we are, so check with us before ordering if you need it by a particular date.
What warranty comes with a garden bench cover?
Three years on NylonSafe®, our premium waterproof nylon, or five years on PVCArmour®, the heavy-duty PVC for exposed sites. Adding the optional KuvrPlus warranty extension when you configure the cover takes those to five and ten years. KuvrPlus covers fabric degradation, seam failure and manufacturing defects for longer. A bench cover spends more of its life in direct sun than most, so UV stability is where the warranty earns its keep. Full terms are on our warranty page.

Really pleased with our cover! We have an outside grill station that was impossible to find a ready made cover for. John was super helpful with measurements and advice and the zips were a great addition. Extremely tough material that will last for many years. Would thoroughly recommend!
Great product - feels so much better quality than previous covers I have bought and exactly the right size.
Approving of plans and buying the cover was easy with good communications along the way - can't praise highly enough
Words cannot express just how happy we are with the furniture covers. We had a corner sofa and additionally a 3 seater sofa , 2 seater plus 2 chairs ordered and two coffee table covers . The customer service pre-order in the initial planning and design stage was exceptional. On going communication and the prompt delivery coordinated around my furniture arrival dates was prompt and on schedule .

Great communication checking all the way right specs and measurements etc, free upgrade to zip which was great fully received, the quality is fantastic would highly recommend to anyone
The cover is amazing, just look at how well it fits and how great it looks. The quality is exceptional.
As impressive as the cover is, the service was even better. It was the best customer service experience I've had in a long time. John was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He went well above and beyond what I expected, ensuring everything was perfect. His communication was excellent throughout, he was incredibly responsive, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. It's rare to find someone so committed to delivering a great outcome and genuinely caring about their customers.
I would give 6 stars if I could. Exceptional service and outstanding professionalism. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both John and Kuvr to anyone looking for a high-quality cover backed by first-class customer service.
Thank you again, John.
After a lot of internet searching and quotes from various companies I finally found Kuvr.co - They were the first company that actually listened to my requirements and helped me get exactly what I needed ( custom tarpaulin for covering a diy pergola). After discussions and reviews of drawings I then received the order promptly and with agreed sizes and eyelet orientation for my project. Definitely recommended. Thanks
Initially I purchased some plastic sheets from Amazon, put the up and thought 'job done'. The sheets became discoloured, they constantly made a noise as they blew around and in the end they just tore apart. I then decided to do the job properly by looking into professional custom covers. I found Kuvr online and submitted an initial enquiry with some measurements. The whole experience from then on was awesome. I got a swift response and was guided through the selection and measuring process in a simple to follow way. Once their impressive price came back I just answered a few questions for additional details of exactly what I wanted and then approved the detailed drawings which they provided. The covers arrived on time and once I'd put them up The difference was amazing. The Kuvr covers are very clear, strong, excellently made and the days of listening to plastic rustling away in even the slightest breeze have well and truly gone. I will definitely be using this company in the future and have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.
Purchased these covers to replace some older inferior tarpaulin.
This space over our old decking was created for covid, but provides us with shelter for all kinds of use these days.
Currently a potting area for my wife.!
Kuvr quality and their customer service is amazing. We could not wish for better.
The advice regarding how to get the measurements correct was really worthwhile. The ordering process was easy, and the cover came earlier than predicted. The quality of the cover is excellent and it is a perfect fit
Excellent product, very good customer service. Hassle free ordering and you get sent a draft of the finished item to approve before it’s made. Very quick delivery. All told very pleased and would definitely recommend.
Ordering straightforward. It was reassuring/useful to receive a detailed diagram of the tarpaulin design to ensure this was correct. Good communication during the process. Received the tarpaulin just over a week from ordering which was much faster than promised. Impressed with the quality and value for money. Will use Kuvr again for any more tarpaulins or covers.
First order with Kuvr - the process was super quick, easy and the end product is spot on. Very happy with my purchase and seems great quality. Will using again for sure 👍🏼
Very pleased with customer support. Particularly with checking my measurements and providing diagram of expected cover for my garden furniture. Also the end product was of excellent quality. Would highly recommend.
John and the team at Kuvr have been a pleasure to deal with, very helpful, knowledgeable and great customer service. I have received my custom cover for my rabbit enclosure and I am over the moon. It is exactly what I wanted and more! Very quality pieces. Cannot thank the Kuvr team enough. Thank you all!
Exactly what I wanted, I'm very pleased with the clear screens and the customer support is some of best I ever come across.
The screens were a bit creased when I unpacked them but as soon as they warmed up in the house the creased disappeared. The day I put them up was a bit cold and they were a bit awkward to line up. Luckily the sun came out which made the job went a lot easier. There has been a couple of really windy days since fitting and they stood up to it very well.
After trying a local company, I decided to search the "net" and came across your site.
The dimensions I gave you and the expected cover picture was enought to make my mind up. Your product is I would say 4 times better than my local company. They could not guarantee durability or waterproofing either.
Having got my cover from yourselves I was very pleased with the quality, really strong material and very waterproof. Having it slightly oversize negates the problem of having to struggle fitting it. The old cover that came with the furniture would lift up in even mild winds, not so with this one. Althtough I have 3 bungee cords across it, it shows no sign of movement. To say I am very pleased is an understatement. Thank you.
Really good quality tarpaulin. The dust bag that came with the tarpaulin was an added bonus. Amazing customer service. John took on board all requirements, return messages were prompt. Delivery time was much quicker than expected. Highly professional company would highly recommend and would definitely use again.
