Gazebo Side Panels: Sizing Options
Gazebos are like people, or snowflakes. Seemingly, no two are the same. Which is great, until you find the need to replace a part or side panel!
Standard sizes
Below is a list of our standard size Flexi 30 glass clear tarpaulins that are very frequently purchased for use as clear gazebo side panels.
- 4ft x 3ft (1.2m x 0.9m)
- 4ft x 4ft (1.2m x 1.2m)
- 6ft x 4ft (1.8m x 1.2m)
- 6ft x 6ft (1.8m x 1.8m)
- 8ft x 6ft (2.4m x 1.8m)
- 10ft x 6ft (3.0m x 1.8m)
- 12ft x 6ft (3.6m x 1.8m)
- 14ft x 6ft (4.2m x 1.8m)
- 24ft x 6ft (7.3m x 1.8m)
- 20ft x 7ft (6.0m x 2.1m)
Standard sizes are relatively low cost and are often chopped and changed by customers to achieve what they require.
And this is where Kuvr.co truly excels. We can manufacture panels to any size you require. Or, you can choose from our range of standard size glass clear tarpaulins, made from our Flexi 30 fabric, that are ideal for use as clear gazebo side panels. Standard sizes can be delivered as soon as next day whilst made to made to measure gazebo side panels generally have a longer lead time. Our most up to date manufacturing time can be found on our Gazebo Side Panels Made To Measure product page.
The standard sizes we keep in stock can help cover many popular gazebo sizes such as 3x3 metre (or 10x10 feet in old money!) and 3x6 metre. We have sizes that are suitable to cover anything from 1.8m (6ft), through 2.4m or 2.5m right up to a 7.3m span as well as many others in between. See the full list of standard sizes on our clear tarpaulin product page.
With so many examples on the internet of disappointing leaky gazebos, our ‘any size’ ethos really puts those fears to bed. And with Ultra Clear 50 fabric, you’ll have the most waterproof and clear viewing windows around!
Gazebo Side Curtains and Gazebo Side Panels — What’s the Difference?
We know you’re all on the edge of your seats for this one, so we wont keep up the suspense. The answer is: relatively little! We find that different parts of the country have their own words for them (the joy of etymology!) but generally speaking gazebo side curtains and side panels — as well as Gazebo Side Walls or plastic gazebo side panels — are all used interchangeably.
There are occasional exceptions to this where a customer may specifically want a gazebo side curtain that can be used just like a curtain might be (i.e. pushed back and forth on a pole) and we can certainly assist with this too. Most importantly however, whatever they're called, our gazebo side walls are 100% waterproof and can help transform and even insulate a space by keeping the wind and rain out and reduce heat from escaping.
Which brings us on to our next point…
How do I Affix my Gazebo Side Panels?
Side panels are generally secured to the sides of the gazebo using either ball loop bungee cords (also referred to as toggles), turn buttons or, for a more permanent solution, with screws and washers.
- The quickest and easiest solution is ball loop bungee cords since they do not require drilling and can be fitted and removed in seconds. They are also inherently elastic, allowing the gazebo side curtain to flex a little in the wind, preventing unsightly damage and general wear and tear.
- The neatest solution is turn buttons, although these are only supplied with made to measure gazebo side panels owing to a special oval shaped eyelet that must be used. Turn buttons consist of two parts; a base section with a twist lock which is screwed to your gazebo framework and an oval shaped eyelet that is fitted to the gazebo side panel. Standard circular eyelets are not compatible with the base section twist lock.
We discuss these and more securing options in the video below.
Clear & Coloured Side Panels for your Gazebo
Many of our customers ask us about Clear Gazebo Side Panels that can be manufactured from our Flexi 30 or Ultra 50 clear fabrics. We do also manufacture side walls in a variety of colours such as Cream, Beige, Green, Grey, Black and Brown. These often include clear windows inset within the fabric, as well as zips and tie back tassels to help keep the gazebo sides rolled up and out of the way during good weather. You can read more about customisation options in our digital brochure and on the Knowhow section of our website.
We manufacture our products from a range of fabrics that are offered with a 6-12 month limited warranty. For more information please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
What's the difference between Flexi 30 and Ultra 50 clear gazebo sides?
The Ultra 50 is as close to being crystal clear as you can reasonably expect from a flexible fabric. The Flexi 30 is a little more hazy by comparison. Drag the slider below to see a side by side comparison of our two clear materials.
The Ultra 50 undoubtedly looks the part and has striking clarity, but the Flexi 30 is more supple and agile. Think of it like a limousine vs a sports car, fundamentally they're both cars but each one is adapted for a different environment and application. We explain more in this short video...
Maintenance: Keeping your Gazebo Side Panels Shiny & Squeaky Clean
Now that you know just where and how you can give that withering gazebo a facelift, let's talk maintenance! We've got some handy tips on how to clean, dry and store your gazebo side panels. So you can keep that ‘new gazebo smell’ all year around. Is that an air freshener scent yet?!
When it comes to good ol’ British summer time, you just can’t predict the weather. One minute you’re soaking in the sunshine, the next you’re huddled under the nearest dry thing watching a thunderstorm play out.
That’s why you need a fool-proof method for removing mould and mildew from your fabric. And the odd been of lichen that might have hitched a ride!
Thankfully we manufacture the majority of our gazebo side panels from a low maintenance 550gsm or 610gsm PVC fabric (PVC = poly vinyl chloride). This is the kind of fabric you see on lorry truck sides on the motorway, or the flexible clear windows you'll find in tents and marquees. It's is an incredibly hardy material that is very good at repelling dirt and water. It's also rot proof and contains a UV inhibitor to reduce damage caused by direct sunlight, helping to extend the lifespan of the fabric.
But with the best will in the world, dirt and grime happens and a little maintenance should be carried out every now and again. That’s why we recommend cleaning down our gazebo side panels with warm water and a detergent like washing-up liquid. Other types of fabrics, such as canvas and polyester may require more specific care and attention. We've provided further information on these fabrics below.
Canvas Fabric
Water and a mild detergent like washing up liquid works well with canvas. And remember: the more dirt, the more detergent you’ll need!
With a soft scrubbing brush apply the liquid to the canvas and work up to soapy lather. Use circular motions when scrubbing, especially with stubborn stains, so as to not damage the surface. Careful around the stitching too! Overworking can damage the seams, causing leaks. Once clean, rinse thoroughly to remove all suds. A garden hose works well!
Vinyl-coated Canvas Fabric
This one is nice and simple! Just warm soapy liquid and a cloth will do the job. For tougher stains, a solution of 1 part bleach 10 parts water should help! Just be sure to patch test to ensure it doesn’t damage the fabric before applying to the whole gazebo.
Polyester Fabric
Remove all loose surface dirt as best you can prior to scrubbing. Then, use a mild form of laundry soap, water and a scrubbing brush. Stains can be tackled by making a solution of hot water and vinegar. Simply pour on and lightly scrub, then rinse after five minutes.
Acrylic
Stains on acrylic fabrics should be tackled in much the same way as canvas. However, as a weather-treated material, it is a slightly easier enemy overall. Simply remove outer dirt and debris with a soft brush, using a mild detergent on the trickier stains and spots of dirt.
With any fabric, once clean allow the pieces to dry fully before use.
Removing And Storing Gazebo Side Panels
When removing and storing your side panels, we recommend rolling the fabric. This avoids deep creases, or permeating cracking across the surface. This is especially true when storing at low temperatures.
We hope you have everything you need to get started on the road to gazebo renovation! Whether you’re in it for the long haul, or just have a pop-up and go, taking care of your Gazebo will pay dividends. And mean less upkeep in the future!
And when taking advantage of our made to measure side-panels, you can be sure that this will add to the longevity of your Gazebo overall. The quality fabrics, tailored sizes and variety of attaching styles mean that you are not scrabbling about for something that fits your existing structure. And once the hard part is done, just a little TLC will keep your side-panels, and gazebo, looking and feeling brand spanking new!
If you have any questions, please get in touch. And be sure to share your gazebo renovation.
